We will begin with learning the basics of Word and some basic keyboarding shortcuts.
This is a skill-level course that includes the concepts, skill development and terminology related to the people, equipment, and procedures of information processing. Students will prepare memos, letters, reports, and forms, create rough drafts, correct copy, and learn e-mail procedures. Students will create/use data directories, prepare various files to merge, learn to locate and retrieve information from hard copy and electronic sources, and prepare masters for presentations using presentation software. Students will be exposed to databases and spreadsheets. Students will gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies. According to the Illinois Learning Standards, students will apply proper grammar, punctuation, spelling and proofreading applications. Accuracy will be emphasized. Workplace skills, as well as communication skills, will be taught and integrated throughout this course.
Classroom rules:
1. Respect each other and the equipment.
2. Follow school rules set forth in school handbook (in agenda).
3. "Friday Specials" not available for tardy or absent students. The 5 points can be made up by completing extra credit projects.

their computer they most likely will not be able
to open your file? Before sending a computer file
by e-mail, be sure to confirm the other side has
the software to open it.
