Greetings from A305, I am pleased to say we have been busy as readers and writers! With the weekly core reading story, guided reading groups, book clubs, MCAS selections, and of course, student selected independent reading, the students have been moving through a wide variety of texts. The students are progressing with their multiplication/division facts. The goal is to know them well and fast. Soon we will be tackling long multiplication and division. Geology is our current science topic. We are learing about rocks and minerals. "Dig deep" with your child to uncover what they have learned! Your child continues to use his/her writer's notebook. I am impressed with the variety of forms of writing. Students are working on plays, poems, descriptive pieces... Our most recent writing genre is the ode. You will have a chance to read your child's ode over vacation. Keep talking with your child about potential writing topics. Parent/teacher communication is so important. Please contact me by email, note, or phone. Just sending a message to touch base can be valuable. (A compliment about something your child has worked hard on, lets him/her know "we talk" and are working together to grow him/her!) Fondly, Tammy Howe
