Hello from U5,
It has been a terrific school year so far! I am proud to say that the students of U5 are a wonderful group of kids who enjoy learning, and together we have a lot of fun!
The students have been working diligently to grow as readers and writers in general and across subject areas. We recently finished book club biographies and are now beginning literature circles! Ask your child to explain the different jobs he or she has as a reader.
In math, the students have mastered long division. We've been maintaining our learning of fractions and decimals. The children made some great discoveries and connections between these different kinds of numbers. We are just wrapping up a unit in geometry!
We traveled the Northeast, Southeast, and Midwest in social studies. Our next venture is to the West! In science we have learned about the water cycle and weather. We have also studied special units on simple machines and sound with Mrs. Sosik!
