I will be writing about the pro's of having the death penalty around for offenders of the law.

The death penalty is something that has been argued over and over for decades, and yet, a conclusion has not been created. There are many supporters for both sides of the argument, so the death penalty can not be mistaken to be a small subject that can be overlooked. Some people may think that the death penalty is inhumane and just cruel to end a person's life, but others think that it brings justice to harsh criminals and it also saves money (instead of having to house and feed the criminal.) I will not be able to disucuss the cons of the death penalty, but instead, the pros.

The threat of execution is enough to make criminals think twice about committing a capital crime. Professional criminals, like everyone else, are aware of the consequences of their actions; the existence of the death penalty will make such criminals think twice. If the taking of one life can prevent the taking of other, or possibly more, it is said to be justified. But if the criminal totally overlooks the consequences, he will still have to pay for his actions, just with his life..... If a single person is able to take the lives of other's, than that person is expected to pay for their crime. This relates to Hammurabi's code that has a principle of "an eye for an eye"

A murder shatters many lives, including the vitim's. But what bout the friends and family of that victim. Not only has the murderer ruined the victim's life, but also put in tremendous amounts of grief and emotional pain into the lives of their loved ones. Many times, friends and families of the victim are tormented by the notion that the killer lives while the victim cannot.....

Many criminals live decades in prison making no contribution to society. Why should the tax dollars of honest non-murdering citizens be used to keep blood thirsty murderers in jail? Instead, all of the money that is hard worked for should be used in schools, to lower taxes, or to even reduce the national debt. Having a quick and simple execution is much more cheaper than having to feend and house a crimal for life. Plus, the jails and prisions these days are becoming very crowded, so executing the murderes would also help with that.

For many reasons, the death penlaty should be looked at as something that saves the government space, money, and even emotional pain for the victims' fmaily and friends. It should be looked at as something that brings justice to people that are cruel enough to end someone else's life, and yet, still think that they will be able to live on...

September 10th

Hey pplz, this is my page for THE BUSINESS SECTION FOR THE WASHINGTON TIMES!!!! WOOHOO! Ummm, yea, so, come here often. Coming soon, a story on the fall down of customers for travel agencies all over the world. So, be sure to check often to find out news bout business around the nation!

September 17th

Due to the tragic events that happened on September the 11th, many people across the nation are terrified to fly again. Because of this fear, airline companies have been losing a lot of business even when they have been cutting back on prices and assuring all airline customers that there are air marshals on-board planes. Many say that the bombing of the World Trade Centers have left a fear in all the hearts of Americans and that some will never fly again.

While the Airlines have been losing a lot of business, they also take this as a chance to cut down on positions. A majority of these airline companies have been having to cut down on jobs, and this loss of business is helping them speed up the process. These moves would have been made regardless of the attacks, but since the attacks occurred, companies have a little bit of a reason to back up their cut on positions. Big airlines like Delta and United airlines have been button on costs and positions, but neither of them are nowhere near on bankruptcy.

Today, the chairman of United Airlines sent a letter to all of the employees today letting them know that the business "will perish sometime next year" if unless it stops the financial losses that have been sky-rocketing since the terrorist attacks on the 11th of September. James Goodwin wrote "Today, we are literally hemorrhaging money, clearly this bleeding has to be stopped -- and soon -- or United will perish sometime next year." since United Airlines is the second largest airline in the nation, not only with United be affected by this bankruptcy, but it will also affect the American economy! United Airlines was losing business before the attacks because business travel had declined. They were having problems with this loss, but when the terrorist attacks scared Americans away from the planes, United is in trouble! United Airlines is suspected to lose about $1 billion dollars this quarter.

The people that have been flying with the airlines have been lured in by the cheap rates. But, United and other big airlines will not be able to keep these fares at such a low rate. However, these low rates are just here for an extremely short period of time. If all the airlines go with these rates, all of them will soon be forced into bankruptcy. Most of the airlines have been cutting their flights by about 25%! So, these low rates are an attempt to lure in customers, and the airline companies will soon be raising them a little bit by bit as American citizens get over their fear of terrorism. That fear has always been there, but by the attacks on the 11th, America has shown its true fear.

In order for America's economy to be successful once more, Americans must get over their fear of flying as soon as possible! An incredible amount of money is made by airlines across the nation, and they are a big source of income for the nation. So, in order for the economy of the United States to get back on it's feet again, Americans must fly!

After the terrifying incidents of September 11th, all the airlines have been taking many extra precautions. First of all, children that are flying alone are only allowed to board non-stop planes. Because many children have been accidentally put on the wrong connecting flight, many parents have been furious with the big airlines. "Because of the additional security screening and whatnot, it's a responsibility we cannot undertake right now," said Joe Hopkins, United's media relations manager. The airlines do not have any time to waste with extra problems that can be prevented form happening.

Some major airlines did not want to take the risk of losing any of their airplanes or have anyone killed, so they grounded all of their flights. Major airlines such as Swiss air grounded all of their flights. Swiss grounded 262 of their flights while stranding 19,000 passengers! But they were able to afford this because some Swiss insurance companies gave Swiss airlines $159 million dollars as part of a rescue package. While big airlines such as Swiss airlines are able to cut down on their flights, many of the smaller airlines are expected to go into bankruptcy. They will all go into bankruptcy because none of them are receiving and financial support and while they are spending money on their planes everyday, there will be no income that is coming in.

This "Pearl Harbor II" has caused a loss for business not only for the airlines around the nation but also for many tourist sites. Even humongous tourist sites such as Disney World and Disney Land were closed because not enough tourists were willing to fly over to Florida, California, and many other states where Disney has opened theme parks. "I've never seen this level of fear before," Linda Maxwell, a veteran travel agent. She received a bountiful amount of calls weeks after the tragic event, more than usual. But all of them were canceling their flights and vacations. Maxwell also predicts that traveling will never be the same again.

In order to regain the confidence of it's customers, many airlines are taking many extra security measures, and even developing modified planes in order to stop terrorists. A big airline, which seems to be unnamed at the moment, is training it pilots to use stun guns. Stun guns must be fired within 15 feet of a target to be effective. When fired, the guns deliver high-voltage shocks that can immobilize a person for as long as 15 minutes. Pilots and stewardesses can take that time to disarm the terrorist and immobilize the person.

Right now, the United States is in a state of fear and very vulnerable to many things. Extra problems such as Anthrax have been bothering the states right now, but eventually, America will prevail! United we stand; we shall all fight together in order to rid of this problem!
