Quia is where students will find activities to strengthen their knowledge on the various units of study. Students may access Quia through Ms. Lawson’s web page. Each student will be assigned a username and password to access Quia. This is the student’s password, it is not to be shared with other students. Quia will be used for various activities, quizzes and daily class and homework information.
It is highly recommended that Ms. Lawson’s web page is bookmarked for both parent and student usage. The Lawsonville page will contain updates, calendar and URLs for parents.
It will also have a class period page containing:

Computer Guidelines for Ms. Lawson’s Classes
• Come to class with computers fully charged.
• All computers should be closed until instructed to open them.
• No adapters should be plugged in unless student has permission from teacher.
• All computers should be muted prior to class.
• Only go to directed sites that are part of the instruction.
• Computer must be placed in student’s carrying case before leaving class. No computers are to be without their computer cases.
• Students are not to have CDs/DVDs in class EVER! They will be confiscated.
If student does not follow these guidelines, it may result in one or all of the following:
• Loss of computer privileges for the rest of the period.
• Loss of points on the assignment.
• A discipline assignment.
• A conference with a parent or guardian.
• A referral or Ibook confiscation, which may result in the loss of the Ibook for an extended period of time.

Grading:
Tests and projects = 35%.
Classwork = 30%
Quizzes = 25%.
Homework = 10%.
Tests: If absent on test day, you are expected to take the test the day you return. Student should come prepared to take a pop quiz each class. Interim reports sent every 4.5 weeks.
Homework assigned every class period, needs to be turned in on time, is graded and can have an impact on your grade. There is a 20-point deduction for every day late, after 1 week it will be a “0”. It is requirement to copy homework assignments each Monday in your Agenda EXACTLY as they are written on Quia page. If absent, check Quia page, contact your study buddies, or mailbox in class.
Makeup work is the student’s responsibility! It is recommended that students have 2 study buddies [in same class] to call for assignments or bring them work when absent. ****Remember, Block scheduling, 1 missed period equals 2 missed classes of work***It is suggested that every Friday, student and parent[s] sit down together and review grades on-line. ___________ (parent[s] initials).
Enrichment Activities:
-An assigned book each 9 weeks based on an historical period – Adv Classes Only.
-Workshops after school in library or T-8

Projects this year include one each 9 weeks. Parent signatures are required, so please be on the lookout for the projects. Student may need to go to the county library or stay after school 1-2 days in order to complete these projects, based on their own planning.

6. Some units will be short, others long. It is important that you check the class web page, and the classroom mailbox when you are absent. You are 7th graders now and responsible for gathering any missed assignments.
7. Creativity is a great way to work with your ISN. Draw and color on the worksheets, use stickers and scrapbook supplies on title pages. Remember: this is your ISN, your resource and tool to everything social studies related this year. Enjoy it, Read It, Make it part of your SUCCESS as a 7th grader!
