Summer, 2009
I hope you all are enjoying your summer vacation. I am having a fun summer, but am already looking forward to the 2009-2010 school year. I am excited about the changes at Towne Acres and am anxious to meet my new first grade class! The first day of school is Thursday, August 6th. See you then!
Important Dates to Remember:
Thursday, August 6th: First Day of School, 12:00 p.m. Dismissal
Thursday, Augutst 6th: First Grade Parent Meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m.
ACADEMICS:
Reading: Be practicing your sight words from Kindergarten. Make sure you know your letters and letter sounds and come ready to learn to read! I hope you are going to the library this summer. Be Creative with the Johnson City Public Library Summer Reading Program.
Math: Practice counting forward and backward as high as you can go! Practice counting simple sets of coins and telling time to the hour. Brush up on simple addition and subtraction facts over the summer, too!
Just a few reminders!
*Be sure to collect box tops and Campbell's Soup labels over the summer.
