GRADING SYSTEM
Our grading system in P.E. is based strictly on the child's behavior and participation.  Every child starts each nine weeks with an "S".  A student is given ample warning for unacceptable behavior.  If the behavior persists after disciplinary measures have been taken, the child receives a "check".  The first check results in an "S" on the grade card, the third check results in an "N", and five or more checks result in a "U".  When a child receives his/her third check the parent is notified immediately with a phone call or note brought home by the child.

One objective of physical education is to allow time for a child to be physically active.  In our program, we have various games and activities that the students are expected to participate in to allow for physical activity.  We have team and individual sports for the older children and low organized games for the younger children.  Another objective is to improve the fitness level of the children.  This is accomplished through games and fun exercises.  We do understand that some children have problems that would prevent such activities.  If your child has asthma or any other physical limitation, please complete and return the section below so we can be informed and better meet the needs of your child.  If your child cannot participate in P.E. due to an injury or illness, please send a note with your child.

The clothing and shoes worn by students greatly affect their performance in P.E.  Tight clothing such as jean skirts can restrict leg movement.  Sandals and slick-soled shoes can result in slips and falls.  Girls need to wear shorts under skirts and dresses to avoid embarrassment while in P.E.
