*Dear Parents,
I am writing to you in regard to the Accelerated Reader points for the third quarter. Up to this point most students have not taken it upon themselves to make sure that they have the points that are required. Each student needs to earn a minimum of fifteen points per quarter to receive an A. This is a very attainable goal. Many of the books at this grade level are worth around eight points. That means they really only need to read a couple of books, but it also means that they should be reading for about 15 minutes every night. In order to help students meet this responsibility, I am requiring that they earn a certain number of points by the dates listed. By February 11, they need 5 points; by March 1, they need10 points; by March 22, they need 15 points. If a student cannot reach these points because the book he is reading is longer and worth more points, he should come see me well before the due date. We can then discuss the situation on an individual basis. Not meeting the above requirements will result in a homework consequence and quite possibly eligibility will be lost.
