Literary Terms Unit II

character- a person or an animal in a story, play, or other literary work.

description- writing intended to created a picture. It can also help the reader smell, taste, hear, and feel something. Often description can reveal emotion or attitude.

biography- book written about a person by someone other than them self

Tone- attitude a writer takes toward an audience, a subject, or a character. The tone can be light and humorous, serious and sad, friendly or hostile toward a character, and so forth.

Imagery- language that appeals to the senses, sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell- sensory details
