SPECIAL EVENTS:
IMPORTANT DATES FOR SECOND GRADE:
"Back to School Day": On Monday, August 15th, come by and drop off your supplies and meet your teachers! I am Mrs. Crabtree and I am so excited to be your teacher this year. I am expecting a baby boy in a few weeks, so Mrs. Brimmage (a retired second grade teacher) and I will be teaming together to teach you exciting new second grade skills. We look forward to a great year together!
August 17th is the first day of second grade. Be ready to rock into a GREAT school year!
CITIZENSHIP: Our school theme this year focuses on building good citizens. Those students exhibiting good citizenship will receive PAWS. Students may redeem PAWS on Monday for cool prizes!
LIBRARY: Students may individually return and check-out library books anytime during the school week. Our library day is on Monday! Please have it in your backpack daily!<
RISE AND SHINE: Second Grade Rise and Shine takes place in the cafeteria at 8:10 a.m. on Fridays. It's a GREAT way to start the day!
TRUE BLUE: Don't forget to wear TRUE BLUE every Friday!

READING: This week we will be reading “The Moth and the Butterfly” and “Birthday Basket for Tia” this week. We will also be focusing on words that end in –tion, and -ture. Please have your child read all each day and sign off on their reading log and return on FRIDAY.
LANGUAGE ARTS: We will be focusing on where to place commas while writing. Also, please practice neat cursive handwriting DAILY....EVERYTHING WILL BE WRITTEN IN CURSIVE THIS WEEK!

MATH: This week will be learning:
1. how to add 3 digit numbers
2. how to multiply by 5
3. how to write mixed numbers
4. how to find perimeter
5. the -1, -2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -7, -8 and the -9 subtraction facts
SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES: This week we will learn about Earth Day.
