The Wilson Reading System is a research-based program designed for students who struggle with decoding and spelling. The Wilson Reading System teaches word structure and language through a sequenced, 12-step program. Wilson instruction uses a multisensory, systematic approach which is sequential and cumulative. The teaching plan is based on the continuous assessment of the students’ individual needs. The student receives high school credit for this course.

Quarter Grading Policy:

Participation - 50% - Students are expected to actively engage in the Wilson Reading lessons. Participation is essential to this systems success.

Class Work – 30% - Student are required to complete structured written work that reinforces the components of the Wilson Reading System.

Silent Reading– 20% - Students will be expected to complete a short silent reading period during each class session. They will enter a short summary of what they have read in their journal notebook each class.
