The people that are for Affirmative Action argue that it eliminates discrimination among races when it comes to employment and other issues. There are many benefits that can come from Affirmative Action, but, there are also many consequences of Affirmative Action as well.
The people who are against Affirmative action can make many good arguments for the abolishment of the policy. An example of this could be that many people view Affirmative Action as a form of discrimination against whites and other races that have to make sacrifices when it comes to employment and other issues. For example, if a white person and a minority were being considered for the same job, and the employer supported Affirmative Action, that would almost insure that the black person would get the job. The minority would get the job even if the white person were more qualified. This type of thing could be considered discrimination by the people that oppose Affirmative Action. The people who oppose Affirmative Action could argue that the person who was more qualified was overlooked on the basis of their race. This argument is true but, in a way it is also false. Affirmative Action has been eliminated in many offices and colleges due to the persistence of those who dont believe that Affirmative Action should be continued.
Those who support Affirmative Action could say that the policy provides equal opportunities to everyone. Affirmative Action ensures that a minority will not be overlooked for employment based on just their race. People who support Affirmative Action could say that the policy is constitutional and should be continued by any means necessary.
I believe that Affirmative Action should be continued. I think this way because it gives minorities the opportunity to succeed in a world that is dominated by the majority.
