Bonjour, mes élèves,

Pour le 9 au 13 juin:

Français I-7: This week, we are reviewing the results of the unit test series. Monday and Tuesday, those who choose, may take the B form of the unit tests to improve their academic achievement for the final term. Wednesday is Unity Day for the whole school to celebrate the end of another year. It has gone fast! Now that the hot weather is here, we are all anxious for summer vacation!

Français I-8: Monday, we are reviewing the results of the unit 5 test. Tuesday, those who choose, may take the B form of the unit test to improve their academic achievement for the final term. Blue team dinner is Monday night. Green and Red team dinners are Tuesday night. Wednesday is Unity Day for the whole school to celebrate the end of another year. Thursday morning, Freshmen will hold panel discussions for 8th graders to ask questions about the high school. Friday afternoon, is Step-Up Day. Students will head to the high school after lunch for an abbreviated schedule of their classes next year. Friday night is the last dance- for 8th graders only! It has gone fast! Now that the hot weather is here, we are all anxious for summer vacation!

Français Exploratoire A: Last week, we watched "The Phantom of the Opera" for a look at Paris at the turn of the century. Students said they enjoyed this classic French tale. After the end of the movie, we began playing "Monopoly" en français! Each day, we keep track of the real estate, and money that we have accumulated! No one has gone bankrupt yet!

                                                    Au revoir,

                                                    Madame Cooney

Hola clase,

Para el 9 hasta al 13 de junio:

Exploratory Spanish-A:  Our "final exam" is in the form of a "Jeopardy" game to review all vocabulary covered during the course. We played for two consecutive days last week. Then we decided to watch "Stand and Deliver", the true story of Jaime Escalante, an L.A. high school math teacher who teaches calculus to his class, despite the disapproval of the other math teachers in the school. It shows the obstacles that hispanics have to overcome to be successful.

Exploratory Spanish-B: Students have selected "Hispanic Celebrities" as their final topic of the course. We went to the computer lab on Thursday to begin our research. We will have one more session together in the lab on Tuesday. Then students will present their information to their classmates on Thursday. Some are making a PowerPoint slideshow. Others are designing a poster, or writing a report. All will end in oral presentations.

                                                 Adios,

                                                 Sra. Cooney
