Computer Requirements - 6th Grade Semester Course
- Classroom activities will include class discussion, note-taking, worksheets, videos as well as frequent hands-on computer activities. There are textbooks for in-class use.
- Homework will be limited to data gathering for in-class use, work which cannot be completed during class, and special activities such as reports or research. Homework must be turned in on the day assigned. Late work means lost points.
- Each student is required to have a pocket folder and a pencil or a pen. These supplies should be brought to class everyday. No binders in class!
- If a student is absent, he/she is responsible for getting notes and should check with the teacher for any makeup work. Tests should be made up an agreed upon time between student and teacher. If work was assigned while the student was here, it is due on the day he/she returns.
- Grades will be based on the quality and completeness of assignments, class participation, quizzes, tests, and hands-on activities.
- Grades will be an "O" for Outstanding work, "S" for Satisfactory work, "N" for Needs Improvement and "U" for Unsatisfactory work. No percentage grades are given for nine weeks’ grades.
- Course content includes units on: Types of Computers, Computer Parts, Keyboarding, Word Processing, Computer Ethics, Database, Spreadsheet, Presentations, and Current Technology Topics.
- Students should follow "Computer Treaty" rules to avoid disciplinary action.
- Bonus technology articles with short sentence or two summary are worth 5 points for up to 25 points per nine week period. With no summary, they are worth 3 points each.
I have read and understand the rules and requirements of Computer Class. I understand that if I consistently follow the "Treaty", I can receive special computer coupons or A-slips. I also understand that failure to follow the treaty will result in disciplinary action to include D-slips or even Detention if necessary.
I understand that having all students prepared for class with all necessary supplies and assignments is necessary to make the most of our class time. No disruptions lets everyone have the chance to learn. Proper care of the equipment ensures it will last a long time.
