Welcome to Mrs. Wannamaker's web page.
Even though this is a short week, our class is working hard. In English, we are studying adjectives. Adjectives after the verb "be" are a little challenging, but we are conquering them.
We're enjoying a story in reading about a young boy who is sent to a logging camp far from home to live for a while. It's the early 1900s and many people in his town are dying of influenza (the children had no idea what that word meant), and his parents want him to escape the possibility of dying from this illness. The children are really taken by the fact that a child close to their age is sent from home to live with strangers.
We have begun preparing for the ERB writing test in April. Please encourage your children to discuss the prompt and please feel free to advise them on ideas for the progression of their story.
We have started a new unit in math. Multiplication and division will be the focus.
We are excited about our upcoming North Carolina ABC project. I am collecting sample books from last year for the students to see as examples of what they can do.
Please feel free to browse my web site for updates on the happenings in fourth grade. You'll like what you see!
