Mrs. Watson's Crew- 4B Week of 5/18 to 5/22
Thursday morning from 8:00 -11:00 a.m. the students will have a reading marathon. I will be sending home a notice, but the students should bring enough reading material to last for three hours. If they want to they can bring a stuffed animal, a small pillow, and a sleeping bag/beach towel. We will read, read, and read some more. Last year this was one of the favorite activities so I am sure they will have fun.
Friday, May 22nd- Closing Liturgy at 9:00 a.m. and dismissal at 11:00 a.m.
Can you believe that we are entering the final week of the year? It really has flown by. I want to thank all of you who were so supportive of me and of your children. They have grown in many ways. If I don't get to tell you personally, I hope you have a safe, relaxing, and fun summer.
Religion
This week we will try to complete all the lessons on the 10th commandment. The students will also participate in a fun activity that ties in with a lesson on vocations. They will be assigned a future job/career and they must describe the skills needed to perform that job well. The rest of the class will try to guess what job has been given to each student.
Social Studies 4B
The students are almost finished with their posters about state government. They are fantastic. They will be presenting them this week and then will be self-grading their work. The winning poster will be laminated for use the my classroom next year.
Math
This week the students will complete the final lesson in Number Theory. This lesson is on square numbers and square roots.
Grammar Time permitting we will complete another lesson or two on adverbs. There will not be any formal assessment on adverbs.
Reading
The students only have four more chapters to read in our novel. We are close to reaching the climax of the story and it is getting exciting!

Classroom Policies and Procedures
Mrs. Huebner and Mrs. Watson
Fourth Grade 2008-2009
Class Rules
Students are expected to be respectful at all times. This applies to hallways, bathrooms, lunchroom and playground. Students should treat others as they would like to be treated. Infractions will result in lost time from recess, and contact with parents for repeat offenses.
Assignments
Each student is expected to use the homework planner provided by the school to keep track of daily homework, tests and projects. If a student comes to school with homework that has not been done, recess time will be used to complete the work. Extenuating circumstances that prevent a student from completing homework should be explained in a note from home. When a student is absent, work will be sent to the bench outside the office to be picked up by a parent or other authorized person at the end of the day. Make-up work after an absence should be completed within a reasonable time
Mrs. Watson's students will be given a homework completion grade for each quarter. Completion grades will be given in the following subjects; Spelling, Math, and Social Studies. Assignments must be complete and turned in on time. Students who turn in all assignments on time will receive a homework completion grade of 100%. Incomplete or missing assignments will receive a zero for that day's completion grade. (If I collect an assignment to be graded, students lose 5 points for each day that the assignment is late.) The number of assignments will vary depending on the subject and the semester.
Assessments
Tests will be announced in class, written on homework boards to be copied in planners, and posted on class web pages. Students will be given sufficient time to study. Completed tests will be sent home each Wednesday and should be signed and returned the next day.
Handwriting
All work is to be done in pencil in the student’s best cursive. There may be requests to replenish supplies, such as pencils, during the year.
Parent Volunteer Program/Room Mothers
Each month we invite interested parents to spend some time with the fourth grade students. During this time you and the students will participate in some enrichment activity related to the curriculum. For example, you might assist a group of students with a sensory writing activity or by playing a math game. We will provide materials and instructions when you arrive at school. Fourth grade celebrations are limited to Halloween and Valentine cupcakes at lunch and the Christmas Breakfast.
Quia
The Quia web page is updated weekly, usually on Sunday. It is meant to give you a snapshot of the material being covered during the week. We will post dates for tests, book reports and projects, but not nightly homework assignments.
