Welcome to Chess Club

I'm looking forward to another great year in Chess Club. Our first meeting will be on Thursday, October 9.

I have not had any students challenge me at the Postcard Chess web link in a while. I have been playing my adult friends there, though, and I think I may be getting better.

Anyone interested in competing at the local, or state level should go to the Virginia Scholastic Chess site:

Here is the site I recommend for internet chess. Unfortunately, it is loaded with advertisements; please try to navigate around them.
When you go to the site, click on: email chess. After that, fill in the information. Remember what I said about entering personal information. Don't use your real name and please call me Mr. W. You will be the light-colored pieces because you are making the first move. My email address is: tmschess@gmail.com When you make a move, you click on the piece you want to move, then you click on the space you want to move it to. Before the site sends the move, it asks that you verify. If the site is too confusing for you, send me an email and I'll make the first move. Let's play!

Here is a great site to learn about chess openings:

Here is the most popular chess site I know of. It is expensive to join, but I've downloaded their computer chess program, ICC Dasher, for free. You might want to ask for help for this, though.
