This web page will be a place where some of the assignments are posted. Check this site often for updates or new links to supporting materials. Try playing some of the games at the bottom of the page. These games will reinforce what we have been doing in class tonight. You can practice these from home. If you have any questions, ask. Class Syllabus: This class is designed to help you become a better writer. We will work on grammar, sentences, paragraphs, and essays. The lessons will become more difficult as the semester progresses, but the lessons build on the early lessons, so be sure you understand the basics. Attendance and Due Dates: You will need to be in class to do most of the assignments. I will attendance credit points every night. To get the points, you must sign in when you arrive (late arrivals will not be able to sign in, and you must be here when I dismiss the class. If you finish the class work early, you should stay and work on Skillsbank until the class is dismissed. You may be dropped after two absences. If you choose not to attend class, it is your responsibility to drop the course with the office. You may receive an F if you stop coming and do not officially drop the class with the office. There may be times when you cannot attend class. If you know you will be absent, there is no need to notify me. You need to send the work to me by email on the day that it is due. Use this address (aperez@luhsd.k12.ca.us) to send you work electronically. Please don't call me to tell me you will not be attending class; I know there are times when it is impossible to attend. Computers:/ Portfolio: We will use the computer extensively. You should save all of your work on disk and keep a printed copy in your class notebook. We will use this work as the basis of a portfolio that will be used. Email: Be sure you login and check it regularly. You will be signed on to a class listserv that will send you assignments and materials. If you don't check your email, you will not be able to participate. It is your job to check email at the beginning of each class period and respond to any messages. You should spend the first few minutes of class doing the assignment you receive, or work on Skillsbank if you finish early. If you send a reply to the listserv, it will go to everyone in the class. EVERYONE will read what you write, so don't write anything personal that you do not want to share with the class. If you want to send me a personal message, send it to aperez@luhsd.k12.ca.us. You should use this address for homework that you are emailing to me. Do not send it to the group email. Textbook/Materials: We will not have a textbook, but you can use the sites below to review our class lessons. I will update these sites or add to them as the class progresses.
