***During summer vacation this year, it is imperative that each child continue to read frequently and practice math concepts taught this year. The summer provides many opportunities to write such as keeping a journal of daily adventures or writing stories about family outings. We have noticed that when students do not read daily and practice skills throughout the summer months, they lose many of the skills that they have worked so hard to master during the school year. In second grade, the students are expected to be independent readers and without regular, consistent practice, readers who leave first grade reading independently can run the risk of weakening their fluency and comprehension skills. Your efforts to keep their skills sharpened is vital to their future success and very much appreciated. Thank you!!!

Be on the lookout next week for an Emergency Contact card coming home with your child. It needs to be complete and returned before September. Thank you.
