HI EVERYONE! These are the pages that you will find our Unit Web Projects and WWW Sites for Units 5, 6, & 7. (See below!) **(Due dates will be posted as the year progresses.)** I have developed these projects so that everyone has a chance to excel at their given talents, for example, you might choose to write a poem or essay, draw a map or picture, or do a presentation on the given topic! REMEMBER: All projects must include a list of web sites that you accessed for each project. (This is called a bibliography.) You are required to use 4 WEB SITES that I have assigned and 2 WEB SITES that you have found.
**HERE ARE THE UNIT PROJECTS:**
I. UNIT FIVE: DIVISION AND REUNION
(Chapters 16,17,18) 1820-1877
Photography of the Civil War Everyone must complete: 1. You must write two "Dear Home" letters, one to your family and one to a trusted friend describing your feelings about fighting against your own "brothers"and life on the battlefield, 2. Then you must also choose one: Construct a Visual Timeline of one year of the Civil War using pictures from the Internet and notating important events of that year; or draw a map of the United States and the Confederate States during one year in the war and label important events of that year.

II. UNIT SIX: TRANSFORMING THE NATION (Chapters 19,20,21) 1865-1914- Immigration and Ellis Island Everyone must complete: 1. Create a diary of a fictional immigrant who passed through Ellis Island around the turn of the century (1900), 2. Choose one of the following: Create a collage of various pictures of immigrants that you found on the Internet and add captions to all pictures, or draw a world map that shows where the immigrants came from and where most of them settled after arriving in the United States.

III. UNIT SEVEN: A NEW ROLE FOR THE NATION (Chapters 22,23,24) Era of Progressivism & Reform Everyone must complete: 1. An essay describing an event or an issue of this period that you believe was significant (labor issues,"big business",political corruption, etc.), 2. Choose one of the following to complete the project: Compose a brochure consisting of pictures from the Internet and detail your "cause" using information gathered from various sites regarding a reform movement active today. Or, you can present yourself to the class in an oral presentation that depicts you as a current reformer and you must agrue your "cause". Or, you can create "Dear Home" letters (2) as a soldier or a nurse on the warfront during World War I.
