Welcome to York Science on the web! This homepage will be used primarily for news about activities in class, interesting links to websites that will supplement the student's work in class, and special project information. I will continue to have daily assignments posted on Monday on the board in my room. Each student needs to learn to be responsible for those by copying them into their trackers. 7th Life Science As part of our study of invertebrates, students are coloring and labeling cross-section drawings of a representative organism from each phylum. Before the end of this 6 weeks, each student will need to decorate a manilla (or bradded) folder to hold these. 8th Earth Science National Parks Project: All the letters should have been written and sent :) If so, that request for brochures should bring responses soon. (One student has received information back as of 1/16) We've had a day in the computer lab and a day in the library to acquire informaton. 3 resources are required!!! Website links that are excellent to access are listed below. Guest speaker: Mr. Snyder, Kathryn's dad, will be coming to class on January 26th to bring his expertise and rock collection to our study of rocks. He is even going to bring some he has collected from specific national parks and link the classroom study to the research project. I'm so grateful for all of the generous supportive parents! The 8th graders are becoming knowledgable young adults since our studies have coincided with events in the news. as Bush's appointees undergo confirmation hearings, we have discussed environmental issues. You may want to have your own discussions at home!
