Willkommen ! yr 12's and yr 11/s too, use time in week 1 of term 1 to check out some information on this site : http://www.ssabsa.sa.edu.au/support/language/gerc/gerc-menu.htm in particular, look at the SSABSA Examination Papers and Assessment Reports, 2006, German continuers and Recently selected Indepth Study Topics I want you to have made a decision for your/our Indepth Study Topics by the end of week 2 this term, so that I can incorporate this decision in my programming. Also, we can't efford to waste any time. While the writing tasks will not be tackled immediatly, you need to start collecting information and resources for three summative tasks relating to your in-depth study topic. The summative task written in English could be done in term 1, so it's out of the way. The task written in German will happen in term 2 (after we have done a lot of revision on grammar and practised writing skills in term 1), the oral task will be focus point in term 3, in preparation for the exam. This is all for the moment - clever as you are you all should have a most successful year with excellent outcomes. I do expect serious focus on your learning, supporting each other, commitment and team work. Bitte, bitte, bitte - don' fall behind with your work. Always try to be a little ahead, everything will be twice as easy and will take much less time. yr11s and yr 12s: for additional grammar revison for week 2 (maybe more fun than the structured work I gave you), look at the exercises/games I suggest below. This site http://www.ssabsa.sa.edu.au/language/subjects.php is interesting to explore if you like to get an idea of what you are meant to know by the end of year 12. Maybe you don't want to know..... Maybe you are of feeble mind and character and get the shock of your life if you go there.... Maybe I am left without students in the class after you had a look..... Some students manage to get reasonable SACE results knowing only a fraction of all of that ...maybe.... But if you want to know why I am jumping up and down when you can't use the correct verb endings in present tense, you better check out what you find listed for "German", particularly the list of grammatical concepts you are meant to know about. Oh, und dann habe ich noch schnell ein paar "activities" gefunden (I've found some activities), that allow you to practise "Present tense verb forms" - the next test on these will be easier, but if you fail again, you will see me for an extra lesson on this topic. this is a great site for independent study - any time you can't sleep or you feel ambitious about getting better using German, go here: http://www.languagesonline.org.uk/ 25/02 In week 5, I want you to again learn the phrases for the quiz "etwas, was du gerne machst" - this is now a test, ready for our Friday lesson. Yr 11's with friends from Germany do this test from home, their German buddies should watch them doing it and confirm to me on Monday that nobody cheated :) After the test, lesson time will be used to investigate what info we can find on the Internet to learn more about fairy tales and values of a society. Google "fairy tales", or "fairy tales and values" and collect relevant information (paste into word) that you will use in your summative assessment task. Yr 11's who miss the lesson need to do this from home. check out the new link below !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8/03 the new vocab test : "clothes -deine Lieblingskleider is now ready for practising.
