Hi Klasse 9! THis is your Internet based class page for German - your starting point to access many interactive exercises on the net, including simple tests. 7. März , tasks for today: 1.) Choose from "activities" : Essen und Trinken (Java games) - you can check all vocabulary of Java game activities by clicking "list of terms" - this is also good to print out that list of vocabulary to have it in your book. The list for "Essen und Trinken" has also all the pictures for the food/drinks I suggest you do the "matching" first ( a few times), then you might want to try the concentration (memory) or the word search 2.) Play the "Rags to Riches game: "Food and Drink in German" record the questions and answers in your exercise book You might not have any time left, but if you do, try out task 3. and 4. 3) Choose from activities : Kitchen - find the Easter egg - do the matching activity (the memory game) and/or the word search 4.) Choose from "Quiz" : Ostern - Osterei-Suche For our chapter 6 work, you could use the link below that leads you to activities that go with our textbook - just choose and play (at this stage I won't tell you which ones you have to do) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out this great site: http://www.languagesonline.org.uk/ or: http://www.klar.co.uk/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Of course, you can try any of the other activities listed below. You won't need your user name for those - record what you have worked/played with in your German books or maybe print out completed exercises to stick into your book. 29/03/08 If you miss today's lesson, try out all activities in the Java game: "Essen und Trinken". Afterwards, go to our textbook link and try out all three links for Chapter 6! Viel Spaß! And if you are in school today, of course, you do the same :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 16/05/08 Finally you will have your test /quiz results recorded - it won't take long, so just quickly do the quiz on telling the time, then try out three new activities I've imported from the web. They are teaching you to tell dates , e.g. when your birthday is. These are the last three activities in the "activities list" - please, do them in that order. Don't forget that I will collect all books on Monday to assess : - the letter you have written to your penpal in Germany (group B) ( if you got low marks last week, re-submit a new version and I will re-assess it - 10 sentences you wrote yourself to describe what you do at certain times (group B) - the answers you have written to the questions about what happens at what time (group B) - the time expressions you wrote under all clock faces ( group A and B ) - the cut out cat pictures with sentences written next to them in English and German (group A) starting Friday, 23/05/06 Project Go to the "Useful Links" below and follow the link that leads you to a list of famous Germans. From there, select one person, collect information about him/her and introduce that person with a poster. Read the instructions underneath the list of people, so you know what you are supposed to cover. Alternatively, up to five students will have the choice to put together a poster (one each) on German festivals and special celebrations. You will need to co-operate with each other so that together you cover a range of annual events. I will continue with "speaking assessments" while you work on this project -------------------------------------------------------- Freitag, der 20/06/08 Try out all three activities with the name : "Verbs you must know". The quizz will be a test next week, at the moment you do it just for fun, with the best result being recorded. You need your user name and password for quizzes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Freitag, der 27/06/08 Today you will do the quiz "Verbs you must know" as a vocab test. Afterwards I like you to go to http://www.passionsspiele2000.de/ and find out what is so special about the place called "Oberammergau". Write into your German book 5 things you found out about the Oberammergau Passion plays ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Freitag, der 25/07/08 Group B : First, do the Quiz "Tiere" - then spend the rest of the lesson with any of the other three activities with the topic "Tiere" (animals) Group A : you may choose to do the quiz, but that is your choice, if you like to have a go. Spend the lesson with all or any of the three activities with the topic "Tiere" (animals) In the "useful links" section, check out the "Movie Competition" site, if you are interested in competing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Montag der 28/07/08 Group A : In the first part of the lesson, you should again work with the three activities titled "TIERE". It's best to start with the JAVE games to learn some vocabulary you would need to know to be successful with the Hangman game. In the second part of the lesson I like you to try out the JAVA game "GERMAN GEOGRAPHY", and afterwords you could have a go with the MINI quiz GERMAN GEOGRAPHY . You don't need a password for this, as results don't get recorded. Group B : First part of the lesson you should work with the new JAVA game "HOBBIES" to learn some of the vocabulary for our new topic. In the second half of the lesson you too may have a go with the JAVA game GERMAN GEOGRAPHY, as well as try the mini quiz on this topic. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Freitag, der 01/08/08 Group A : You can play with all activities that focus on modal verbs or hobbies - even try out the quiz on hobbies. However, I want you to spend at least half the lesson with investigating the links that lead to places where you find information about Germany. Start a document in which you save info that could be good for the questions in your game. Group B : You need to play with all activities on modal verbs and hobbies, including the quiz on hobbies. Today we won't record any results, though. However, about half way through the lesson I will start a competition with one of the activities, I tell you more when we are about to start. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Freitag, der 08/08/08 Group A : : please continue with collecting questions for your game Group B : work with the two quizzes on "Hobbies" - and when you are getting tired of that, try the "Challenge board activity "Challenge Board: Modalverben + haben / sein " (this one is further up in the list) Next week there will be a vocab test on using the hobbies vocab in sentences, questions and with modal verbs. (as you practice it today in the quizz "Hobbies") ------------------------------------------------------------------ Freitag, der 15/08/08 Group B : please do the quizz Hobbies - which is actually a test on how wll you can use the vocabulary in sentences and questions, including the use of modal verbs in some phrases. I let you have one practise go, you can choose to have a second attempt, the last result will be recorded. After this test you can do any quia activities from the class page or go to the "Shared activities - German - self select from any topic. Tell me if you come across a really good one. Group A : please continue with your brilliant work on putting together questions for your game. Today you need to find questions and answers for the questions on "FACTS". Follow the links below that say "all about Germany". I will ask you to hand up print-outs of 40 questions next time I see you: 10 questions relating to geography, 10 questions relating to history, 10 questions relating to culture, 10 questions about facts. The two (or three) students working together should not have the same questions. Students who cannot hand up those 40 questions (+ answers) will receive lunch time detentions until they have completed the outstanding work. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Montag der 25/08/08 Group B : I have changed settings to the "Hobbys" quiz and you may have another go, if you want to improve your score you can have a second attempt as well. Once you are happy with your result, I like you to work with the four activities on "possessive articles" (also called possessive pronouns or possessive adjectives. The expression "article" is best, as they replace the definite "article = the" of a noun. E.g. The car is old. --- My car is old. You find five new activities at the very bottom of your activities list further down. Four of these are designed to help you to use possessive articles correctly. - one of these five new activities is a challange board game in which you can test your understanding of comparatives and superlatives. Viel Spaß! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Freitag, der 12/09/08 Group B: try the quiz " Wetter" - linking a dependent clause with a main clause. In this quiz your answers will be recorded, but I will need to look at them to assess your work. This allowed me to ask for own answers to some questions. Second: go to this link and read all there is to read about "comparison". Try the exercise to check your understanding. The German letters are at the bottom of the exercise to click whenever you need them. http://www.mckinnonsc.vic.edu.au./la/lote/german/materials/grammar/adjsteigerung.htm Afterwards (if you have time left) you could either try the first link in the "useful links" section below and experiment, or you follow the instructions for group A. You may choose any "sub category", click "submit" and you 'll get a list of activities for that sub category. Group A: free choice of any quia activities that focus on school. I have imported three into our list here, but you may also go to www.quia.com - quia web - shared activities - GERMAN - sub category - choose School vocabulary - submit - choose any of the many activities you find listed. Work on questions/answers for your game if not yet completed, I will ckeck on Tuesday to see that your game can be played. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Freitag, der 19/09/08 Group B: if you didn't do the quiz "Wetter", do it now - everyone else: explore the first link in the "Useful links" section Group A: same instructions as last lesson :) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- B> Montag, der 21/09/08 all of you: I've just received news of the annual "Schützenfestcompetition" - Lets win it!!!!!! You need to create a Poster with a Minimum of 9 German sentences about the most Northern federal state in Germany: Schleswig Holstein Guess, where I come from........... This lesson: find out as much as you can about this most beautiful part od Germany, copy bits into a word document for later use and google earth "Schleswig Holstein - get an idea, where it is, what's special about it, what do people do who live there... ever heard of the "Nord Ostsee Kanal"??? - a canal, that links the Baltic Sea and the North Sea - find it with Google earth. Learn about the "Karl May" festival in Segeberg, the "Hühnengräber" (graves from the stone ages) and how the ice ages shaped this part of Germany. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- term4 - week1 In the links section below you'll find the new link to "Ganz Genau" - your new textbook. Everyone in group B: start to work your way through all activities for chapter/Tema 1 Everyone in Group A: please explore the information relevant to your poster on "Schleswig Holstein" and continue to collect info for your competition entry ----------------------------------------------------------------------- >B> Thursday - group B First, play the challenge board "VERBS YOU MUST KNOW" by yourself. Second: play the same game with the student sitting next to you. Third: Winners find another winner and battle it out against each other Winners of this round : see me Fourth: collect more info fo the "Schleswig Holstein" competition entry -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday Group B: continue with and complete all activities that you access via the link "Ganz Genau". You can choose any of the quia activities you like when you have completed all textbook activities Group A: compete to get 50% of the possible marks in the challenge board activity "Verbs you must know". Price for the first one to reach that goal, the second student must get 100 point more for the same prize, and so on. You can have a second attempt as well to better your score for another reward. In the second part of the lesson you may choose any other quia activity you like to do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Donnerstag, 23/10/08 Group A:: Today, I want you to play the "Rags to Riches" activity "Erzähl uns über deine Lieblingsfernsehsendung "(Tell us about your favourite TV program). You have the choice to either put together an entry for the competition, or answer the 15 questions you were given. Only use internet sites useful for this task. Group B:: If you have not yet completed the tasks on your "workbook" handouts (Ganz Genau), you need to work on these tasks. I told you so before. If you are reading this but haven't completed these tasks, you are doing the wrong thing. Log off and continue with these tasks. Find a partner and compete to win first. Free choice of quia activities after that. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Montag, 27/10/08 Group A:: The majority of you seems to be much more interested in the language rich revision/learning activities that you can do with the "Rags to riches: and the "Challenge boards games". For this reason I will give you the choice to choose these instead of working on the "Schleswig Holstein" competition entry.. At the end of each lesson and/or whenever you complete an activity I will record everyone's results to keep track of your learning. The end of year exam will be based on all "Rags to riches" activities and the "Challenge boards games" you find below. I will not add any more from now on. Group B:: You may choose any quia activity below for fun and the chance to win a Schokoladenfrosch after you have completed your Ganz Genau WORKBOOK exercises ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mittwoch, 29/10/08 Group A:: You don't really need new instructions, just continue with any "Rags to riches" activities and the "Challenge boards games" .
