About me |
I have been teaching Spanish for over 36 years, most of them in Sylvania Public Schools (Arbor Hills, Southview, but mostly at Northview). I am not yet "burned out". I love Spanish. I have lived in, studied in, or visitied 12 different Spanish-speaking countries. And I still love teaching it. I also enjoy taking my students abroad for homestays with Spanish-speaking families. I am planning a trip to Ecuador or Peru this summer (June 2012) I have a widely varied background in teaching. I have taught English as a second language in Guatemala, in Cuba, in the US, and more recently in China. I have taught every level of Spanish including pre-school-6th grade (Montessori, where I also taught elementary music and art), jr. high (Bedford & Arbor Hills), high school, Holy Spirit Seminary, university, Spanish for Business, Spanish for Travellers, Introduction to Education at U. of Toledo, and co-taught classes in Methods of Teaching Second Languages at BGSU. Teaching takes up most of my life, but not ALL of it. I love to play the piano (which doesn't mean I play well), gardening, reading, writing poetry & stories, and spending time with my husband, my 13 grandchildren, and my new cat, Jasper. Yoga helps keep my mind and body in shape. |
