Welcome Pinnacle students! Here you will find different activities to practice vocabulary in your LOTE (Spanish, Italian or French). Pay special attention to the names of the class links (ex: Grade 6, Grade 7&8), so that you click the links that will be helpful for your Language or class level.
Pinnacle Charter School has its students Reach Higher by beginning the study of LOTE in Kindergarten! Students in the K-2 exploratory program are exposed to several foreign languages, but with a focus on Spanish. Students in grades 3-4 also explore several foreign languages, but on a slightly elevated level and also with a focus on Spanish. Students in Grade 5 participate in an Introduction to LOTE course, spending one trimester each studying Spanish, French and Italian, allowing them to develop a deeper understanding of how each LOTE works.
At the end of grade 5, students select one of the three LOTEs to study during grades 6-8. At the end of their intermediate studies, all students take the New York State Second Language Proficiency Examination. This exam, depending upon the students' score, can allow these middle school students to earn 1 high school LOTE credit before they even enter high school!
