I have served over thirty years in the field of education and have a bachelors, two masters and a doctorate in Christian education. My background includes 13 years of teaching secondary social sciences, five years as an athletic director, 12 years as a head basketball coach (four at the collegiate level), three years as a principal and over twenty years as a superintendent/headmaster.
I grew up in Philadelphia where I attended both public and Christian schools. During my high school years, I was privileged to attend Delaware County Christian School, where Dr. Roy Lowrie served as our headmaster. Later, Dr. Lowrie founded our present accrediting group, ACSI.
I played high school and collegiate athletics and it was during my final two years of college that the Lord clarified His call for me into teaching and athletics.
Later, I met my lovely and wonderful wife, Carol Ann, while coaching. She was my favorite scorekeeper. We have served together in Christian school education for over twenty years and thoroughly love the challenge and opportunity of molding and influencing young lives for Christ.
Carol and I love our four favorite "hounds:" Maxx the beagle, Cody the beagle/husky mix, Sadie the little lady, and Jordan, our blue-tick coon hound.
I love boxing, running, working out, walks with my wife in Swan Creek State Park, travel on route 66, travel to Paris and London (maybe a future senior trip?), and a great hamburger...
Message
It is my desire and purpose to honor the Lord Jesus in all that I say and do. Therefore, it is my privilege to serve God at TCS and to help cast the vision for greater academic growth. I also desire for God to use me in helping to complete our previous plans for a new gym and science labs. I believe that with the Lord, all things are indeed possible. Therefore, I hold to Philippians 4:13 which states: "I can do all things through Christ...."
Join me, along with my school board, administrative team, faculty and staff, as we plant the seeds and watch our God bring about His harvest that is evidenced in the young lives we touch daily for the sake of His kingdom.
GO TCS.....GO EAGLES!!!
What's Up Doc? Superintendent Message
February 3, 2012
Dear TCS Friends and Families,
The new gym/multi-purpose facility is near completion with our very first basketball game scheduled for Tuesday, February 7. The game is already sold out having done so within the first three days that tickets were made available. However, there will be other upcoming games including the girls’ varsity playing at home on February 9 @ 7 pm. The following are additional home games which will take place in our new facility:
• Friday, February 10 versus Ottawa Hills, beginning at 6 pm
• Friday, February 17 versus Danbury, beginning at 6 pm
• Friday, February 24 versus Northwood, beginning at 6 pm
As of this writing, all TCS parents and families should have received a written copy of our rules and guidelines for the new gym/multi-purpose facility. It is important to understand that our maintenance staff, which continues to do an incredible job in the upkeep of our facilities under the direction of Rick Bridgman, has your full support in this regard. As a former athlete and coach, I can relate to the idea of popcorn, soft drinks, and the like while watching a game. However, with an already short-staffed maintenance crew asked to cover an added 19,000 plus square feet we need total commitment to the new rules and guidelines. The aspect of keeping it clean is not solely for athletic events but for plays, presentations, programs, musicals, as well as our senior commencement programs. There will be administrative support staff that will enforce the rules during all activities within the facility. God has blessed our school and it is to His glory and honor that we demonstrate good stewardship in use of the facility.
Over the past three years, I have watched the Lord do great things at our school. No, we are not perfect and never will be within the realm of a sin-filled world; however, it is indeed awesome being able to witness the way our Lord takes care of the vast needs of Toledo Christian Schools. The new facility is merely an indicator that “with God…all things are possible.” I will be unveiling a new three-year plan of goals and objectives for 2012-2015 prior to the end of school. Both the school board and I are driven to improve the overall academic, spiritual, and social atmosphere of our school during the course of this time.
It is also with great joy that I am able to share the new location of our first PS/PK satellite campus located in Sylvania. After much negotiation and approval by the board of directors, Toledo Christian Schools will be opening a new campus for three and four-year-olds on the campus of Boulevard Church of Christ located on 7041 Sylvania Road beginning August, 2012. The program will be a day program for new families within the Sylvania area and be under the direction and guise of Toledo Christian Schools. This is phase one of an ongoing program to provide TCS with three to four preschool satellite campuses which will serve as “feeder programs” to our current K-12 program. It is also important to note that we will continue to provide our current main campus located on AW Trail with a preschool program as well.
