I have served over thirty years in the field of education and have a bachelors, two masters and a doctorate in Christian education. My background includes 13 years of teaching secondary social sciences, five years as an athletic director, 12 years as a head basketball coach (four at the collegiate level), three years as a principal and over twenty years as a superintendent/headmaster.
I grew up in Philadelphia where I attended both public and Christian schools. During my high school years, I was privileged to attend Delaware County Christian School, where Dr. Roy Lowrie served as our headmaster. Later, Dr. Lowrie founded our present accrediting group, ACSI.
I played high school and collegiate athletics and it was during my final two years of college that the Lord clarified His call for me into teaching and athletics.
Later, I met my lovely and wonderful wife, Carol Ann, while coaching. She was my favorite scorekeeper. We have served together in Christian school education for over twenty years and thoroughly love the challenge and opportunity of molding and influencing young lives for Christ.
Carol and I love our four favorite "hounds:" Maxx the beagle, Cody the beagle/husky mix, Sadie the little lady, and Jordan, our blue-tick coon hound.
I love boxing, running, working out, walks with my wife in Swan Creek State Park, travel on route 66, travel to Paris and London (maybe a future senior trip?), and a great hamburger...
Message
It is my desire and purpose to honor the Lord Jesus in all that I say and do. Therefore, it is my privilege to serve God at TCS and to help cast the vision for greater academic growth. I also desire for God to use me in helping to complete our previous plans for a new gym and science labs. I believe that with the Lord, all things are indeed possible. Therefore, I hold to Philippians 4:13 which states: "I can do all things through Christ...."
Join me, along with my school board, administrative team, faculty and staff, as we plant the seeds and watch our God bring about His harvest that is evidenced in the young lives we touch daily for the sake of His kingdom.
GO TCS.....GO EAGLES!!!
What's Up Doc? Superintendent Message
August 24, 2012
Dear TCS Families and Friends,
Welcome back, to a new and exciting year at Toledo Christian Schools. We were blessed with over 800 people attending our parent/student hotdog cookout orientation on Monday, August 20. The excitement on the faces of the students and parents, as well as our staff and board, was contagious. It is our ongoing desire to offer an outstanding education founded upon biblically-based principles. Christian education is unique in that it deals with the whole child and addresses their needs from a social, physical, spiritual, and academic mindset. Proverbs 9:10 clearly tells us that, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." As we are well aware, the fear spoken of speaks of reverence and respect towards God as our Creator and source of all wisdom. This verse will be our theme throughout the course of the 2012-2013 school year in seeking to glorify God and raising His name above every other name.
Again let me emphasize some key points from our meeting on the 20th:
First, it is important as parents and staff that we collectively have the best interest of the child in mind. Therefore, ongoing communication between the home and the teacher is vital in order to meet the individual needs of each student. Second, we are asking parents to refrain from using both Glynn and Island before, during, and after school. As followers of Christ, our testimony is continually at stake within our community. We have requested numerous times that both parents and students comply with local laws. I have requested through a local councilman that police be stationed accordingly to ticket all those who violate said laws. Third, I am requesting parents to be actively involved with the school by offering their services in time to help out when called upon. We realize many are unable to help as desired due to work schedules. However, it is vitally important that our parents play an active role in supporting Toledo Christian Schools as often as possible. We continue to require a minimum of 20 service hours per family. Please be sure to record your hours on the main TCS web site under the For Parent/ Volunteer Center tabs.
