The theme for the 2011-2012 school year is "It's All About You". All art projects are autobiographical in nature. We will work with a variety of media and subject matter including marker drawings, clay masks, book forms, and pencil portrait drawings.
Classroom Rules: 1. Arrive on time with required materials. 2. Remain seated and work consistently throughout class. 3. Be respectful. Do not talk when the teacher or a classmate is speaking to the class. Be respectful of other’s property. 4. Remain on task and do not disrupt class. 5. Clean up daily.
Conduct Policy: As a consequence for receiving a demerit, students are given a writing assignment. All writing assignments are to be completed and returned to the teacher the following school day. A demerit slip will sent home with the intent of making guardians aware of any problems that may be occuring in the classroom. The demerit slip should be signed by a guardian and returned along with the completed writing assignment. Persistent behavior problems may result in removal from team time, lunch detention, or referral to administration.
Homework Policy A portion of each student's grade is based on effort/class participation. As a general rule, there is no homework given in Art class. However, if a student misses school, he/she will be given a makeup assignment for each day missed in order to gain back points that count towards the effort grade as well as the project grade.
