About me
Welcome to Mr PC's Science and Technology Online Classroom

Hi and thanks for visiting,

My name is Mr. James Painchaud although my students usually call me Mr. PC.

This is my third year at Baird Middle School teaching Computer Science and Science – Technology. I really

enjoy teaching the students in Ludlow and the staff here is one of the best with which I have ever had the

privilege of working.

Prior to coming to Ludlow I taught computer science in Bellingham at their alternate high school for three years,

and spent four years before Bellingham teaching middle and high school students in Worcester. Before

becoming a teacher I worked as a software engineer for over 20 years, and have been fortunate enough to watch

technology evolve over the past 30 years. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Assumption College,

and am currently working on my Master's Degree in Education with a concentration in Instructional Technology.

I have a daughter who is 14 and another daughter who is 12. My oldest is starting high school this year and

my youngest is now in the sixth grade. Both of them attend school in Worcester.

I will see each of your children for approximately 10 weeks this year so it is easy to see that we have a lot of material

to cover in a short amount of time. It is my goal that by the end of 10 weeks that your children will be:

1) More computer literate and fluent

2) Be prepared for the 8th grade Science and Technology MCAS

The goal of this class is to give our students a real engineering and scientific experience. The

students will learn about different technologies including: The Engineering Design Process,

Construction, Manufacturing, Communication, Transportation, and Bioengineering. The

students will work as if they are in a true engineering environment working with each other,

solving problems, and documenting their work in an electronic notebook.

3) Begin developing the century 21st skills which will prepare your children for high school,

college, and life in this new technology age.

It is my hope that each student builds a confidence and appreciation for technology and becomes aware of all the

opportunities it provides for our young people today.

I look forward to teaching and sharing many learning experiences with all of you this year!
