I was born in Lascari, Sicily, Italy. In 1969, my family came to the United States as immigrants; I attended a Catholic junior high school and received my high school diploma from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education and Languages from Towson State University and did my graduate work at McDaniel College in Curriculum and Instruction. I have been teaching for 30 years, the last 20 at Hammond HS.
I speak 4 languages- Italian, Spanish, French, and English. I have been the ITL of the World Languages/ESOL Department for 4 years and currently teach Italian 1-4AP. I founded the HHS Italian and Spanish Honor Societies and sponsor the Italian Club and Italian Honor Society. I am a current Board member of MFLA. I served on the Howard County Foreign Travel Committee for 10 years, and have taken nine student educational tours abroad to countries such as Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. I have also traveled to Mexico, Germany, and Ireland.
I coached HHS's Girls Varsity Soccer team and served as the 2A South Region Girls Soccer Director. I coached sports for 27 years, including tennis, indoor track, and soccer (boys and girls). My soccer teams have won two State Championships, two Howard County Titles, and two Regional Titles. I have been married for 24 years and have two children. Among my many interests are my family, traveling, photography, sports, music, and watching foreign language films.
