Hi, my name is Susan Otis and I have been the Media Specialist at Gulf Gate Elementary School since 2005. I love being able to share my excitement about literature and the media center to all of the students at Gulf Gate. I spent five years at Gulf Gate teaching first and second grade before I moved to the Media Center. I looped with my classes which means that I had them all for two years. What fun it is now to watch them grow from Kindergarten up to the fifth grade!
I also looped from first to second grade for five years and taught at-risk second grade at Emma E. Booker Elementary in Sarasota as well.
I grew up in Sarasota and attended Gulf Gate beginning in the second grade. I went to Brookside, Riverview, Manatee Community College and the Univeristy of South Florida. I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and am a ceritfied Media Specialist.
I have three children who call me mom. There are three boys and one girl. My oldest is off at Florida A and M University, there is one at Riverview and one at Pineview.
