Nice photo of Mrs. D headed to Easter Sunday service, circa 1959, eh?!? I'm the kid on the right. Don't you love my gloves?
The 2011-12 school year marks my 34th year of teaching English! I've been employed by Lakeville Schools for 32 of those 34 years. This is my seventh year at South. This year I teach two classes of 9th grade Honors English, and one of Honors English 10. second semester I also have one section of Modern Literature.
My home life is an active one: my husband, two boys (Ross, 20, a junior at St. John's University; Jack, 18, a freshman at SJU), and two cocker spaniels (Frosty and Samson) keep me busy, as do leisure activities. I love to read (I'm in a book club with a bunch of English and social studies teachers from both South and North!); I often visit my cabin near Luck, Wisconsin; I enjoy church choir; I'm a total political junkie and am a Facebook addict; I enjoy walking/biking along Minnehaha Parkway in South Minneapolis where we live. I love the city: restaurants, museums, the Guthrie, other live theater and music...everything that urban life has to offer.
But mostly, I love literature, love students, love my teaching job!
