2B9G: When to use pretérito and when to use imperfecto
Remember, pretérito is usually for past actions that happened only once, over a short, well-defined period of time. You clearly know when the action started/stopped and how long it lasted. Imperfecto is used for past actions that are not as clear. When they started/stopped is less clear. They are usually longer, ongoing actions. They include: W- Weather in the past A- Age in the past T- Time of day U- Used to (actions you used to do) P- Periodically repeated (every Saturday, every summer, every day, etc.) E- Emotions or Conditions For this practice quiz, just decide which type of verb you would use: put I for imperfecto or P for pretérito.
