Upgrade of Java Quiz: Weathering
Weathering includes the various processes that involve the physical and/or chemical breakdown of rocks and minerals at the surface of the earth, where they are exposed to low pressures, low temperatures, chemically active materials (water, carbon dioxide, oxygen), and the earth's biosphere. Physical weathering results in the disintegration and/or disaggregation of rocks and minerals into granular or clastic sediment. Chemcial weatherin results in the decomposition or rocks and minerals into dissolved ions in solution or newly precipitated minerals that are highly insoluble. These include the oxides and the clay silicate minerals.
