Prepositions and their phrases: Acc./Dat.

Students must demonstrate control over two sets of prepositions: their meanings and usage, as well as how they interact with case and gender. The accusative set includes durch, für, gegen, ohne, um ; the dative set includes, aus, ausser, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu, and gegenüber. An additional challenge is the correct choice and ending-handling of singular possessive adjectives within prep phrases: mein-, dein-, sein-, ihr-, Ihr-.
