Did you know a tree could own land? In Georgia there is an old, old oak tree. Its owner loved this sturdy oak so much that he deeded to the tree the land on which it stood. He did this because he wished the tree always to be protected. It is many years since Mr. Jackson, for that was the man's name, made this tree a landowner. Since then a few other trees have received gifts of the land on which they grow.
