C016
The children in Tom's class promised to buy teeters for the new playground. They thought of a way to earn the money for the teeters. When they had been studying about Indians, each boy and girl had made a fine bow and arrow. But they had no targets. It was decided to make targets to sell for fifty cents each. Thin white cardboard was cut into eleven-inch squares. On these, the children drew three different-sized circles, one inside the other. The smallest was two inches in diameter, the next six inches, and the largest ten inches. The inside circle was inked black and had a white figure "5" painted on it. The other circles were left white with black figures. The largest was numbered "3," the middle one "4." The boys and girls had many merry contests with the targets. They not only earned money for the playground but also became skilled in using their bows and arrows.
