The bluebird is one of the first birds to announce by his return that spring is here. Bluebirds come so early that they have time to raise two families. Once, after the first brood had been raised, the father and mother birds built another nest in our bird house for four more blue eggs. Then the young birds of the first brood, who were flying about, helped to care for the baby birds by bringing food. These big brothers were almost as excited as the parent birds themselves when the little ones were ready to fly. When the newest little birds had learned to care for themselves they all flew away together, for summer was over.
