One hot summer day a man hired a donkey and its driver to take him across the desert. At midday the sun was shining overhead. It was so hot that the traveler stopped and dismounted. "I will rest here for an hour," he said. "The coolest place is in the shadow of the donkey. Remove the luggage from its back." He sat down in the donkey's shadow, while the poor driver was left in the scorching sun. After a short time the traveler began to nod, so the driver tried to squeeze himself into the shade by the side of the traveler. Waking with a start, the traveler shouted, "What are you doing? There is room for only one here, and I have hired the donkey." (To be continued)
