What girl or boy has not been a digger in the dirt? Sometimes diggers make exciting discoveries of buried objects that tell us about the people who lived long before us. Indians owned North America before the white man came. We know from weapons and other objects that have been unearthed, that others lived in America even before the Indians. Their arrowheads would penetrate four times deeper into a tree or an enemy than Indian arrowheads made thousands of years later. No one ever has found a tooth or bone of these earliest Americans. No one knows what they looked like. Perhaps one of you now reading this will find a part of one of these long-ago men and thus become one of America's most famous diggers.
