French 2 Entry Survey

Hello incoming French Students! As you enter Skyline you can choose to enroll in French 2 or French 1. This test serves as a tool to help you decide your correct placement. While this test is intended to assist you in your decision, it should not be the only criteria you use to make your decision. Q: Should I take French 2 this year? A: To be prepared to take French 2, you would already have high school credit in French, have relatives who speak it with whom you speak regularly, or have lived in a French-speaking environment. If none of these apply to you, French 1 is probably the proper choice. Q: If all of the above describe me and I take this test, will I be ready for French 2? A: If you are able to successfully answer about 75% of the questions on this test, the first time through, using no assistance and within the time frame, you are most likely ready to move on to French 2. Here are some other things to consider: * Assessment Grades from French 1 - Generally, how do you do on tests? You should have scored strong C's or better on the majority of your tests and quizzes. * Student Motivation - Learning a foreign language is fun and exciting but it requires more daily work and review as you advance through the levels. Ask yourself if you are willing to commit to an average of 20-30 minutes or more of review and/or homework per day. Are you a proactive student? Are you willing to seek help from the teacher if necessary?
