Identifying Subjects and Predicates

Every sentence has two basic parts: the subject and predicate. The subject is the person, place, thing or idea the sentece is about. The predicate gives information about the subject or tells what the subject does. The simple subject is the main words or words in the complete subject. The simple predicate is the verb or verb phrase in the complete predicate.
