Directions: Read the passage and answer the questions below.
Jimmy was feeling sad. When he got home from school, he called for his dog, Spike, to come and play with him, just as he did every day after school. This time, though, Spike did not come.
"I think your dog may be gone," Mother said. "I saw him chasing a cat earlier today. I called for him to come back, but he kept on running after the cat. I haven't seen him since."
"What are we going to do?" Jimmy asked. "We've got to find him!"
"Don't worry," Mother said. "When it gets closer to supper time, I'm sure he'll find his way back home."
Jimmy went up to his room to do his homework, but he couldn't stop worrying about Spike. Later that evening, there was a scratching sound at the kitchen door. Jimmy ran to the door, opened it, and was relieved to see Spike there.
"Good boy! You're back! I missed you ! Don't ever worry me like that again," Jimmy said.
