Absolute Phrases
An absolute phrase is a group of words that, together, modify the entire sentence. Absolute phrases consist of a noun and its modifiers (usually a participle); they may precede, interrupt, or follow the main clause. Example:Their slender bodies sleek and black against the orange sky, the storks circled high above us. Their... sky is the absolute phrase.
