Resources for Gifted and Talented Children in Delaware: Science.

Dear Gifted/Talented Instructor,

I would like to ask you to participate in a study on the opportunities available for Gifted and Talented students in Delaware, specifically, in relation to science. I am interested in finding out what science programs are available for students who are classified as being Gifted and Talented. I intend to use this survey in conjunction with other research literature. I will use the results of this survey as part of my senior thesis at the University of Delaware.

I would like to ask you to complete a survey and return it to me. I would like to keep copies of this survey for study and reference. This survey should take less than fifteen minutes to complete. Your answers will serve to help me get a better understanding of the educational opportunities for Gifted and talented students.

You are not required to submit your name or social security number so the results are anonymous. Results of the survey will be enclosed in a summary of results in an upcoming publication through the University of Delaware. Six months after the results are analyzed, or no later than 12/31/02, all materials will be destroyed.

If you would like more information about this study, or have any questions pertaining to the study, please contact my research advisor Dr. Danielle J. Ford at (302) 831-6254 or by e-mail at djford@udel.edu. You may also contact me at (302) 453-9052, or by e-mail at markbutt@udel.edu. If you have any concerns
about the conduct of the research, please contact Dr. T.W. Fraser Russell, Acting Vice Provost of Research, University of Delaware, (302) 831-4007.

Thank you very much for your participation!

Sincerely,

Mark E. Butt
