  1. Exact to text reading: the reader tracked the text as they read, did not loose their place when they made eye contact, and pronounced words correctly.
    0 = No evidence: many distractions.
    1 = Little evidence: some major distractions.
    2= Adequate evidence: few minor distractions.
    3 = Well done - evident throughout most of the reading; you had my attention. I was not distracted by errors, if any were made you read on as though it was a natural part of the story.
    4 = Exceptional - evident throughout all of the reading; I was entertained. I did not notice any distractions.


  1. Eye contact with audience: the reader used punctuation and events in the text into consideration as they made eye contact with the audience. The eye contact added to the dramatic reading by enhancing the entertainment value with audience connections.
    0 = No evidence: the reader's eyes did not leave the text.
    1 = Little evidence: once or twice, the reader's eyes left the text and connected with the audience.
    2= Adequate evidence: the readers eyes left the text a couple of times at dramatic moments, connecting with the audience.
    3 = Well done - evident throughout most of the reading; you had my attention.
    4 = Exceptional - evident throughout all of the reading; I was entertained. I felt like you were the character and you were telling me your story.
