Classroom Management Software

We are trying to determine the need for classroom management software. (In the past, the district provided Vision and SchoolVue.) These programs allow teachers to monitor student computer activity, and they can have additional features, such as chat, application control, website control, etc. Please complete the following survey to help us determine the importance of continuing to offer a classroom management system.

Name (optional):

  1. How important is classroom management software to you?
A necessity to continue using student computers in my classroom.
I have never had classroom management software, but I would use it if I had access.
I could teach without it, but it would require me to rethink how to manage my students' activities.
I really do not need class management software.

  1. Classroom management software offers two methods to establish connection between student and teacher computers. Typically, more expensive programs allow teachers to connect to student computers. Less expensive programs work the opposite way: students connect to the teacher's computer. This method also allows students to disconnect from the program as well. (This can be a drawback since students can remove themselves from the monitoring program.) How important is it that the classroom management software allow teachers to connect to the students' computers?
    A necessity
    A preferred method of connection
A nice, but not necessary, feature
    I have no preference.
I prefer students connect to teacher computer instead.

  1. Some classroom management software creates an icon on the student computer when the student and teacher computers are connected. Some software keeps the connection hidden from the student's view. Which do you prefer?
I want my students to see an icon indicating they are being monitored.
I want my students to NOT know they are being monitored.
    I have no preference.
