Name

  1. Attendance is important for learning a language. We practice in class and new concepts are explained. When class is missed, material is missed. It is the students' responsibility to make-up missing assignments and understand what has been introduced. Please write about your attendance and your make-ups if you are ever absent.

  1. Punctuality is important. Students who arrive to class late disrupt the teacher and those who arrive on time. Sometimes being late is unavoidable. Please write about your punctuality. If you are ever late, how do you arrive? Do you have a pass?

  1. Working with partners is one way to get more practice in class. Sometimes you choose your own partner and sometimes your partner is chosen for you. How effective are you at working with a partner? Do you stay on task? Do you help your partner, or ask for help from your partner when appropriate?

  1. Volunteering answers by raising your hand is one way for the teacher to know whether or not you understand the material. Do you frequently volunteer to respond to general questions?

  1. Demonstrating courtesy to the teacher and your classmates shows that you care about the subject you are learning. Drawing, putting your head down, reading novels, or chatting is a distraction to you and others around you. Are you courteous in class? Do you avoid these distracting activities?

  1. You are the one who has the most at stake in your education. Do you seek extra help when you have trouble understanding expectations, assignments, or concepts?

  1. Making connections with your language outside of class is fun and important. Have you ever shared something with the teacher or classmates that relates to the language you study like items from a vacation or things that you have read?

  1. Sometimes people need to do goofy things like sing songs or play games to memorize new vocabulary and grammar. Are you an active participant in these activities when they happen in class?
