You may wish to use this printable checklist as you prepare for your Writing test.

- I know when to use an adverb and when to use an adjective.

- I clearly understand subject-verb agreement.
|
- I recognize pronoun inconsistencies.
|
- I can recognize errors in verb tense.
|
- I know when to use the superlative (the most, biggest, etc.) and when to use a comparative (more, bigger, etc.).

- I understand how and when to use determiners, especially a/an and the.
|
- I know the words that naturally go together, like 'either...or', 'more...than', and 'as...as'.

- I can identify errors in negation.
|
- I recognize errors in parallelism.
|
- I can use and understand idiomatic expressions, especially verb-preposition combinations.

- I can recognize errors in word choice, for example, substituting 'conscious' for 'conscience', or 'affect' for 'effect'.

- I know when a word should be capitalized.

- I am confident in my understanding of punctuation, especially as used in complex and compound sentences.
