IDEIntegrated drive electronics. You can connect a maximum of two hard drives to an IDE connection or channel.
Enhanced IDE (EIDE)Allows for two IDE channels that can each support two devices.
AT Attachment (ATA)Known as IDE, the "AT" refers to the IBM-AT computer where this interface was first used. Also known as the ISA bus. 16-bit data bus.
ATA-33Extension to the ATA interface (IDE) that will effectively double the top data transfer speed to 33 Mbps. Also known as Ultra IDE.
SCSISmall computer standard. A standard data pathway used mostly for hard drives and CD-ROM drivers.
MillisecondOne thousandth of a second. Usually used to measure the access speed of hard drives.
System HangWhen a program fails, it usually has an opportunity to display an error or a diagnostic message.
POSTPower on self-test. A group of ROM BIOS diagnostic tests that are performed on the system each time it is powered up.
Cold BootTo turn on a computer, or to restart a computer by turning it off, waiting a few seconds and turning it on again.

MTBFMean time between failures. This is a time, normally given to hours, that prdicts the failure of a device.
Drive InterfaceStands for Integrated Drive Electronics. A drive interface that provides inexpensive, high-speed data transfer between the hard drive or other IDE device and the other components of the computer.
LUNLogical Unit Number is a unique identifier for subdevices assigned to a single SCSI ID.
Display AdapterA PC expansion board that converts the images created in the computer to the electronic signals required by the monitor.
