Week of Dec. 13-17
We have been learning and applying a new reading strategy:the class is divided up into small groups and each group is assigned a chapter from the novel to read. Then, the students complete a sheet with information from their chapter. These "note" sheets are then copied for all of the students in the class and gone over. This reading strategy allows us to read through a novel quicker and it gives the students great practice in summarizing.
6th grade - Students will continue reading in their novel, Maniac Magee.Book Reports will be done in class on Tues., Dec. 14th. The students should be reading any type of book. Library day is Wed., Dec. 15th. We will be checking out survival books. These books will be checked out for 3 wks. due to the Winter Holidays. The book report on this library book will be completed in class on Tues., January 11th.
7th grade - Students will continue reading in their novel, Hatchet.Book Reports will be done in class on Tues., Dec. 14th. The students should be reading any type of book. Library day is Wed., Dec. 15th. We will be checking out survival books. These books will be checked out for 3 wks. due to the Winter Holidays. The book report on this library book will be completed in class on Tues., January 11th.
8th grade - Students will continue reading in their novel, The Outsiders.
