Welcome to Tax Information Training!

The purpose of this training is to provide you with a knowledge base of tax-related issues.  It is not meant to make you a tax "expert", and it is also not meant to be used for providing specific tax advice to a client.

The training consists of three steps.  The first step is to read the Tax Information section in the ACB Policy & Procedure manual.  A link to this information has been provided below. The Tax Information section has been expanded recently to include information about dividends and capital gains, calculating cost basis, identifying shares to sell, and other tax-related topics.

After reading the Tax Information section in the online manual, the second step is to review the handouts you received from your team coordinator.  These handouts included a sample Pershing tax statement, the 1999 Pershing Tax Guide, and a sample 1099-DIV for clients who opened their ACB account prior to July 1, 1999.

The third and final step is to test your tax information knowledge.  There is a final quiz for you to take, and you may use the information in the ACB Policy & Procedure manual to help you.   When asked for the Session Name, please type "tax quiz."  Everyone needs to complete the final quiz!

The purpose of this exercise is to provide you with baseline information you need to know about tax issues concerning our clients.  Always remember to refer a client to their tax advisor who can advise them on their personal situation.

Just a quick pointer - don't click on any of the links to Quia! Home Page, it will log you completely out of this session.  If you get stuck and need to return to this page, go back to the Brokerage Center and click on Tax Information Training, located under Training, CBT.
